Family Photoshoot at the Colosseum and the Capitoline Hill

Two little sisters, their parents and a hot July morning. We met at the Colosseum at half past eight and finished on the Capitoline Hill before the heat got serious.

The route

We started by the Colosseum while the girls still had all their energy, walking, running and sitting on the low wall with the arches behind.

Then a short walk to the Capitoline Hill, where the arcade gives shade and the steps and the square gave the girls space to run while their parents caught a moment of their own.

Why we keep family sessions short and early

In July the sun is strong by nine, and small children tire quickly in the heat. An hour, two places and shade built into the route kept everyone happy.

We don’t ask children to pose. We give them something to do, a race or a game, and photograph what happens.
