Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit photographer-rome.com, send us an enquiry or book a photoshoot, why we collect it and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated on 28 September 2026.

Who we are

Photographer in Rome is part of Julia & Anatoly’s team of travel photographers. We are responsible for the personal data described here. For any question about your data, write to [email protected].

What we collect and why

  • Your enquiry. When you use the booking form or the step-by-step planner we receive your name, email, phone number, how you prefer to be contacted, your dates in Rome, the type of session, your message and your choices about sharing photos. We use this to answer you, plan the session and keep a record of what you asked for.
  • Messages. If you write to us by email or WhatsApp, we keep the conversation so we can plan your session and help you before and after it.
  • Your photographs. We take photos of you during the session and deliver them to you through a private online gallery.
  • Technical data. When you visit the site, our hosting provider and Cloudflare process your IP address and browser details to deliver the pages and protect the site from abuse.

We only ask for what we need to plan and deliver your photoshoot. We do not buy data, and we do not use your details for advertising.

Legal basis

  • Answering your enquiry and delivering the session you book: steps before a contract and the contract itself (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)).
  • Keeping the site secure and records we need to run the business: our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)), and our legal obligations for accounting records (Article 6(1)(c)).
  • Showing images from your session in our portfolio or on social media: your consent (Article 6(1)(a)). In Italy, publishing a portrait also requires the consent of the person shown (Article 96 of Law 633/1941).

Use of your photographs

We photograph you for your own use. We also use a small selection of images from sessions to show our work: on this website, in our portfolio and on our social media accounts.

We ask your permission for this when you book. If you do not give it, or you change your mind later, your photographs are used by you alone and are never published. Saying no changes nothing about your session or its price.

If an image has been published and you want it taken down, write to us at [email protected]. We will remove it from our website and our social media within 7 days. You do not need to give a reason.

We never sell your photographs and never pass them to third parties for advertising. Images of children, and any intimate or boudoir photographs, are never published without separate written permission given specifically for that purpose.

Your gallery link is private and is closed to search engines.

Who else sees your data

  • The photographer from our Rome team who plans and shoots your session.
  • The providers we use to run the business: website hosting, email, Cloudflare for security and delivery, and the service that hosts your online gallery. They process data only on our instructions.
  • WhatsApp (Meta), if you choose to contact us there. WhatsApp processes your messages under its own terms.
  • The payment provider you use for a deposit. We never see or store your card number.

Some of these providers are based outside the European Union. Where data leaves the EU, it is protected by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or another safeguard recognised under the GDPR.

Third-party content on this site

Our fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. The route planner on our booking page shows a map from OpenStreetMap and uses the Leaflet library from cdnjs (Cloudflare), which also receive your IP address when the map loads. Links to WhatsApp open WhatsApp only when you click them.

Cookies

We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookies set by this site are technical ones for our own staff when they log in to manage it.

How long we keep your data

  • Enquiries that do not lead to a booking: up to 12 months after our last message, then deleted.
  • Bookings: the records we need for accounting are kept for as long as Italian law requires, generally 10 years. Everything else is deleted when it is no longer needed.
  • Your photographs: we keep a backup so we can send them again if you lose them. Ask us at any time and we will delete it.

Your rights

You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it, to receive it in a portable format, or to object to how we use it. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time, for example your permission to publish photos. Write to [email protected] and we will reply within one month.

If you are not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (garanteprivacy.it), or to the authority in the country where you live.

Children

We photograph children only in sessions booked by a parent or guardian, and we collect their data only as part of that booking. Images of children are never published without separate written permission from a parent.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date at the top.
