A Photoshoot for Three at the Colosseum, the Forum and the Capitol
A summer morning, three people and one rule: be done before the heat. We met by the Colosseum at 7:36 on 14 June and finished on the leafy steps below the Capitoline Hill at 8:49.
The session
| Session | Portraits and group photos for three |
|---|---|
| When | 14 June 2026, 7:35am start |
| Length | About an hour and a quarter |
| Route | The Colosseum, the terrace above the Roman Forum, the Capitoline Hill |
| Weather | Clear and sunny |
The route
The road beside the Colosseum was almost empty when we started, so each of the three got a walk of their own towards the camera, with the arches filling the frame behind them.
At 8:16 we were under the Arch of Septimius Severus, on the terrace that looks over the Roman Forum. Then up to the Capitoline Hill: an orange wall with a green door, the stairs of the museum courtyard, and the shade of the portico at 8:42, before heading down the leafy steps behind the hill.

Why June sessions start before 8
In mid-June the sun rises before 6am in Rome, and by nine it is already hot on the stone. Starting at 7:30 gave us soft, low light at the Colosseum and shade by the time we reached the Capitol.
The Colosseum opens at 8:30, so until then the road and the terraces around it belong to early walkers and photographers.
