Questions

Flying dress photoshoot questions

What is a flying dress photoshoot?

A portrait session in a gown with a very long, light train, usually tulle or chiffon, that is thrown into the air so it floats behind you in the photo. Rome’s wide stairs and pale stone give it room and a backdrop.

How much does a flying dress photoshoot in Rome cost?

Our sessions are €180 for half an hour, €300 for an hour and €600 for two hours. The dress is separate: bring your own or rent one from us for €150.

Where can I get a flying dress in Rome?

Bring your own, or rent one from us for €150. Tell us the colour you like when you book.

How do you make the dress fly?

The train is thrown up from just outside the frame and let go a moment before the shutter. We show you how to turn and hold still while it opens, and a light breeze on the steps helps.

What colour dress works best in Rome?

Colours that stand out against warm travertine: mint, blush pink, red, gold, deep blue. Beige and cream tend to disappear into the stone.

Where is the best place for a flying dress photoshoot in Rome?

The Spanish Steps first, then the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. All three are at their best early in the morning, when there is space for the train. You can pick them on the map.

How many photos will I get?

About 50 to 70 edited photos from a one-hour session, fewer from half an hour and more from two.

What if it rains?

We move the session to another day of your trip for free. Wind is fine: it helps the train fly.
